As a senior in the Department during this time frame you will support the Head and Deputy Head of Department in aspects of the day-to-day management and be actively involved in quality improvement, service review, and service development activities within the department. This position will also be responsible for managing the student training portfolio within our department. All senior staff are involved in clinical supervision and training of junior staff and students.
The Role
The team comprises nineteen dedicated dietitians ranging from new graduate to experienced clinical specialists. As a team we are committed to ensure that the nutrition care of patients and clients are at the forefront of service delivery.
The Prince of Wales Hospital is a quaternary referral and teaching hospital - a great place to develop your career. It is located in Randwick, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The hospital is undergoing redevelopment and has just opened a new acute services building.
Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Nutrition and Dietetics in order to provide high quality Dietetic care to patients consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.
Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection criteria
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a complex nature
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
