You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital. This position of Research Manager is an integral member of the research team within the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) and the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery (IAS) at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Under the guidance of the SOuRCe Director, the incumbent will help with the operational, financial and human resources management of SOuRCe. In addition, the Research Manager will also support the management, planning, implementation and coordination of multiple research studies across a wide range of surgical specialities and activities conducted within the Sydney Local Health District and The University of Sydney. The FTE for this group of staff varies in accordance with the available funding.
Opportunities will exist to further development of knowledge, skills and experience in surgical research during the course of the position.
- The SOuRCe Research Manager is responsible to effectively and efficiently develop and manage the performance and cohesion of SOuRCe within SLHD; to manage financial, operational and human resource activities of SOuRCe.
- To promote SOuRCe at a state, national and international level, as a preferred site for quality research.
- To manage and conduct high quality clinical and health services research to improve health outcomes for patients, to foster local participation in translational research and promotion of evidence-based practice across multidisciplinary fields.

Ideal Candidate
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or equivalent experience in epidemiology, biostatistics and/or health services research.
- Sound understanding of research, ethics and governance processes; Experience in preparing, submitting and managing research applications.
- Proven experience in managing clinical research units; ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve the research objectives of the unit.
