About us
The Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) leads innovation in clinical care across NSW. We do this by bringing clinicians, patients and healthcare managers together to design and implement new ways to deliver healthcare. 


About the Opportunity
The Research Manager will oversee and support the ACIs research efforts to strengthen research practices and design and implement credible and sustainable health innovations that enable NSW Health system to drive improved patient outcomes.

The role will manage a team that leads, develops and implements research activities for the ACI.

The Research Manager will build and manage relationships with universities and research organisations to support the ACI to collaborate on, or outsource, research functions with health services research units as required.

This role will lead the efficient conduct of ACI Research Grant rounds and supporting the agency in other research grant submissions. This includes managing and seeking applications, coordinating the judging, approval and awarding of grants, and the distribution of grant funds via contracts.

The role will also work collaboratively with the ACI Executive team, ACI Networks and other key stakeholders to facilitate the contribution of key internal and external stakeholders in the innovation of new programs, frameworks and models of care across the state.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience. This includes extensive experience in coordinating research activities in a complex and dynamic service organisation.
  2. Advanced stakeholder management skills with proven capability to build and maintain strategic partnerships and collaboration with diverse groups, including research and contract agencies.
  3. Experience providing valuable strategic advice, project management and the implementation of local/regional projects, frameworks and/or initiatives with state-wide application.
  4. Sound knowledge of health systems research, translational research and quality improvement.
  5. High level skills in conceptual and systemic thinking on the research sector within health and proven capability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.
  6. Experienced in working within a complex working environment, dealing with and influencing senior management and external stakeholders to meet project needs in a timely manner.
  7. High level verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  8. Demonstrated experience of contemporary people management and leadership approaches
