About the Role
John Hunter Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Midwife Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join our dedicated team within the only Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) accredited hospital in Hunter New England.
As part of a small, highly skilled team, you will provide expert breastfeeding support to women and families across inpatient services and through the breastfeeding clinic at Hunter Street. You will deliver specialised consultations, support complex breastfeeding management, and contribute to education and skill development for midwives and nursing staff.
This role requires a clinician who can work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. You will also contribute to policy development, quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining resources to ensure high-quality breastfeeding support.
The role operates on a 7-day rotating roster with after-hours commitments. A dedicated orientation day with a Lactation Consultant will support your transition into the team.

Essential Requirements
- Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
- Current registration with the International Board of Lactation Consultants Association (IBCLC)
- Eligible to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes
- Ability to participate in a 7-day rotating roster with after-hours work required
