Look no further - we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Midwives to join our Birthing Services team at John Hunter Hospital.

About our Birthing Services

Our Birthing Services offer a diverse, high‑acuity and highly supportive clinical environment, caring for women across multiple models of care.

  • Level 6 Birth Suite, providing comprehensive intrapartum care
  • Birth Centre Team, supporting low‑risk, physiological birth
  • Midwifery Models of Care, including Belmont MGP (incorporating home birthing), 

    Hunter MGP & 

    M3T- High risk MGP

  • Emergency Maternity Service


Midwives working in Birth Suite also have opportunities for secondment into our midwifery models of care, supporting continuity, skill development, and career progression.

We are preparing to move into our state‑of‑the‑art, brand new maternity facility in September 2026. This purpose‑built environment will include:

  • A stand‑alone Birth Centre, separate from Birth Suite
  • Water immersion options available in all birth rooms
  • Modern, thoughtfully designed spaces that support safe, evidence‑based, and woman‑centred birthing

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
