About the role:
The role is responsible for the appraisal, sentencing and lawful disposal of records in accordance with approved Retention and Disposal Authorities issued by State Records NSW. This role ensures compliance with the State Records Act 1998 and supports the Ministry’s information governance lifecycle management practices.
This role will also support the development, preservation, and accessibility of Ministry’s archival collections, with an emphasis on digitisation, research and access. This role ensures integrity and accessibility of records through effective appraisal, arrangement, description and appropriate preservation
Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $114,251 - $134,809, plus Superannuation, with a 38- hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
- Appraise and assess Ministry records and apply relevant Retention and Disposal Authorities to sentence records for retention, transfer and lawful destruction.
- Identify Ministry records eligible for destruction and identify records of perpetual value and manage their transfer to Museums of History, NSW for long term access and preservation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sentencing decisions and disposal actions to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Provide advice and support on the application of Retention and Disposal Authorities and records disposal procedures and develop and review records sentencing and disposal procedures.
- Develop and implement archival policies and procedures that reflect contemporary best practices and technological innovation.
About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Extensive experience in corporate records and information management in a large and complex/diverse service industry organisation, including relevant qualifications or equivalent. This includes strong knowledge and practical experience in working with the State Records Act 1998 (NSW) and associated standards
- Proven experience interpreting and applying General and/or Functional Retention and Disposal Schedules and demonstrated experience in archival practice, including research and access
- Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret information, as well as excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proactive approach, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellent customer service
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve quality service outcomes.
