The Role
The Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 (NUM2) for the Oncology Clinical Trial Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and evidence-based patient care within a specialised clinical trials environment. The role is responsible for coordinating patient care, fostering collaborative multidisciplinary teams, and promoting a culture of inquiry, continuous improvement, and adherence to professional standards and regulatory frameworks.
The NUM2 leads and supports nursing staff through effective workforce management, professional development, and the creation of a positive and empowering workplace culture. In addition, the position oversees the efficient management of human, financial, and physical resources, ensuring compliance with organisational and NSW Health policies while maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Continuous engagement in education, performance review, and service evaluation underpins the role’s commitment to excellence in clinical practice and service delivery.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position) (if required by service).
- Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
- A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services
- Proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimisation and practice development
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to engage, enable and manage teams
- Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services.
- Recent clinical experience in Oncology
