The Role
The Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 (NUM2) of the Billington (Endoscopy) Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care within a specialised procedural environment. The role is responsible for coordinating patient services, leading multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a culture of evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and professional accountability.
The NUM2 supports and develops nursing staff through effective leadership, mentorship, and workforce management, while promoting a collaborative and empowering workplace culture. In addition, the position oversees the efficient management of human, financial, and physical resources, ensuring compliance with NSW Health standards, policies, and professional frameworks, and maintaining a safe and responsive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position) (if required by service).
- Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
- A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services
- Proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimisation and practice development
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to engage, enable and manage teams
- Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services.
- Recent clinical experience in Endoscopy
