The services available in Lithgow hospital include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.
We are seeking a dedicated Health & Security Assistant to provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This dual-role position primarily involves wardsperson duties, including assisting nursing and medical staff with patient care, internal transport of patients and items, and supporting hospital operations such as waste disposal, linen handling, and emergency cleaning. The role also includes responding to emergency codes, conducting internal security patrols, and managing incident reporting in line with NSW Health policies. You’ll be part of the Emergency Response Team, contributing to de-escalation and safety strategies across the facility.

What you will bring to the role
- Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, current First Aid Certificate. Experience within a health care setting or similar environment is desirable
- Demonstrated computer literacy at a data entry level as well as ability to operate electronic security systems.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate with all levels of staff, as well as patients/clients and members of the public. Sound understanding of the application of security techniques including conflict resolution skills, de-escalation and restraint practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to interpret and follow Material Safety Data sheets (MSD's), Safe Work Practices sheets (SWP's) and written instructions
- Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
