About Us – eHealth NSW

At eHealth NSW, we’re leading the digital transformation of Australia’s largest health system. As NSW Health’s digital centre of excellence, we design, build and support world-class ICT solutions that improve patient care across the state.

Guided by a Cloud First Strategy, we’re harnessing digital technology to better patient care and deliver scalable, quality, patient-centred, digital healthcare. With your skills and experience, you can help enrich the lives of millions while developing your career within Australia’s largest health organisation—alongside passionate tech professionals, health partners and industry leaders building solutions that truly make a difference.

About the Opportunity
As Engineering Manager, reporting to the Associate Director, you'll lead the VADP and EM&M teams, helping shape their growth and building a future-ready workforce. You'll craft learning pathways and career development programs that keep your teams motivated, skilled, and prepared for what's next.

Your leadership will ensure high-quality, innovative work as you mentor your teams through technical roadmaps and ongoing professional development. You'll optimise team resources, manage capacity, and set up scalable structures to meet business needs – now and in the future.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You'll work closely with operational leads, product owners, capability managers, and stakeholders across NSW Health to deliver results efficiently and in perfect alignment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, managing performance, capability growth, and career progression. Partner with product owners to gather feedback, inform skills matrices, and support annual reviews.
  • Work with product teams to define technical capability needs, maintain an accurate skills database, and align development with technology roadmaps and strategic priorities.
  • Drive capability governance that enables collaboration, accountability, and strong delivery outcomes across NSW Health.
  • Optimise resource allocation to ensure the right skills are deployed to priority initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with capability partners and vendors, leveraging agreements to maintain service continuity and adapt to organisational change.
  • Oversee capability‑related costs, providing insights to support strategic planning and investment.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication, negotiation, and issue resolution.
  • Lead the Digital Workspace engineering workforce across the full employment lifecycle, embedding cultural alignment, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote innovation and knowledge‑sharing by exposing the team to emerging technologies and encouraging experimentation to uplift service delivery.
