Remuneration:  

·       Counsellor Level 3, Sexual Assault Worker Level 3, Social Worker Level 3: $116,892 - $120,680 per annum

·       Psychologist: $80,452 - $117,755 per annum

Westmead Hospital is part of Western Sydney Local Health District and is home to the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS). IVPRS provides strategic leadership, clinical expertise and capacity building across sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection services.

What you'll be doing 
As a Domestic Violence Counsellor, you will deliver specialist therapeutic and case management services to clients and their children who have experienced recent domestic violence. You will work across crisis presentations, short-term interventions and integrated care pathways to support safety, recovery and resilience.

·       Provide trauma-informed counselling, assessment, safety planning and advocacy

·       Deliver crisis support and short-term case management, including group work

·       Develop and maintain clear referral pathways with key internal and external partners

·       Participate in joint case management and integrated service delivery

·       Maintain high-quality documentation, data collection and reporting


This role requires sound clinical judgement, strong interagency communication skills and an understanding of risk assessment and therapeutic responses within a complex health environment. You will also be supported to monitor and manage the impacts of vicarious trauma through structured 
supervision and team support.

Essential Criteria:

·       Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Sexual Assault Worker or Counselling 

 

Selection Criteria: 

1.     Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Sexual Assault Worker or Counselling and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.

2.     Demonstrated experience working in domestic violence service delivery settings, with advanced knowledge of safety planning and child protection issues.

3.     Demonstrated high level assessment, case formulation, intervention planning (including case management) and counselling skills with adults, with capacity to implement a range of therapeutic models.

4.     Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of domestic violence, sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.

5.     Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in domestic violence service provision.

6.     Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in partnership with others.

7.     Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.

8.     Hold a current driver's license valid in Australia and willingness to use for work purposes
