Located at the Department of Oral Restorative Sciences, Westmead Centre for Oral Health, part of Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) — one of Australia’s largest and most diverse health services. Westmead Centre for Oral Health provides general and specialist dental services to communities across NSW and is a key teaching facility for the University of Sydney.

What you'll be doing
In this hands-on role, you’ll assist clinicians to deliver safe, high-quality oral health care while ensuring excellent patient experiences.
Prepare dental surgeries, equipment, instruments and materials for procedures
Assist clinicians during treatment, including instrument transfer, moisture control and patient support
Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards in line with NSW Health policies
Accurately manage patient records and digital health information systems
Participate in training, team meetings, health promotion activities and support of trainees
You may also be rostered across WSLHD oral health clinics or external care settings, including hospitals, schools and residential facilities.

Essential Requirements
Qualifications: Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent/current enrolment in the course.
Selection Criteria
Recent, adequate experience as a Dental Assistant.
Demonstrated ability to assist the clinician in a four-handed environment, with a variety of dental procedures including general and specialised care.
Demonstrated ability to perform effective infection control procedures in all aspects of Dental Assisting.
Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in dental charting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
The ability to work in a large, multidisciplinary team, and be able to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including fellow health care workers and the general public.
Excellent organisational, time-management and problem- solving skills.
