Step into a high‑impact role at Campbelltown Hospital as the Clinical Nurse Consultant – McGrath Breast Care Nurse, where your advanced expertise becomes a driving force in elevating breast cancer care across South Western Sydney. As a key clinical leader, you will support SWSLHD teams, the McGrath Foundation, statewide clinicians, and the broader community by shaping and enhancing specialist services for women diagnosed with breast cancer. Your deep, research‑informed understanding of breast cancer nursing will underpin your leadership in developing best‑practice models and evaluating outcomes through applied nursing research. You will apply advanced knowledge across the entire continuum of care—from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation, follow‑up and palliative care—ensuring every patient receives safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based support.
In this people‑focused role, you will be embedded in the Cancer Therapy Centre and relevant inpatient areas, including Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, while building strong partnerships with community providers to ensure each patient’s needs are met holistically. You will communicate with patients and their primary supports with empathy and clarity, assessing needs and providing tailored education, information, counselling and psychological support. Your practice will adapt to individuals’ changing circumstances, health needs, concerns and preferences, while facilitating continuity of care across all phases of the cancer journey. As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to treatment planning, remain current with emerging oncology and breast cancer developments, and maintain active involvement in the Breast Cancer Interest Group to promote innovation and excellence in clinical practice.

Grounded in theory, research and best practice, you deliver high‑quality supportive care—providing tailored information, education, psychological support and skilled clinical intervention that enhances patient wellbeing.
You excel at adapting your approach to meet each person’s unique and evolving needs, ensuring their concerns, preferences and circumstances guide your care. You prioritise continuity across care phases and settings, coordinating smooth transitions and advocating for patients within multidisciplinary teams. Collaborative, compassionate and committed to service excellence, you are ready to make a meaningful impact and help elevate breast cancer care across South Western Sydney.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time experience as a breast care nurse, or related discipline. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
3. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty.
4. Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
6. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
7. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
8. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
