What you will bring to the role
- Tertiary Qualifications in Health Information Management (or equivalent), or completion of a recognised clinical coding qualification (for example, HIMAA Diploma of Clinical Coding or equivalent nationally recognised certification) and experience in clinical coding audit with eligibility for membership of HIMAA.
- Demonstrated clinical coding expertise with sound knowledge of the Australian Clinical Coding Standards and recent clinical coding experience, including the ability to undertake high‑level quality audits and analysis.
- Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate, and build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change, and to positively influence senior management and clinical staff across all levels of the healthcare setting.
- Advanced computer and data analysis skills, including experience using software such as MS Access, MS Excel, Patient Administration Systems/eMR, 3M Codefinder, and other clinical reporting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to organise tasks, assign priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between clinical coding, casemix, DRG and SNAP classification systems, and Activity Based Funding/Management Models.
