About the Opportunity

As a Senior Clinician you will conduct initial screening assessments, provide brief interventions, evidenced based treatment, case coordination, triage and facilitate referral to support services for a range of young people 12-25 years, including those who may be ‘at risk’ or experiencing mental health problems or mental illness and/or drug and alcohol problems. 
    

This position plays a key role in ensuring continuity of care and enhancing the overall patient experience. In this role you will:

  • Liaise closely with mental health professionals from Children and Young People’s Mental Health to determine the appropriate clinical pathway.
  • Be first point of contact for young people and their families, organisie appointments, provide a brief intervention to young people and evidenced based treatment.
  • Engage and liaise with GPs and Allied Health Professionals, and collect client minimum data set and data entry. 
  • Lead daily clinical review meetings, provide intervention for more complex clients, and provide clinical advice as required to the Youth Access Team and Youth Complex Workers.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum Tertiary Bachelor Degree in Community Welfare, Counselling, Social Work (where degree provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work), Occupational Therapy (plus general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia) (Health Professional L3), or other qualifications deemed relevant by the employer; or Tertiary Degree Psychology (4 year) plus full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia (Psychologist Yr 5-Yr 9); or Tertiary Degree in Nursing plus Division 1 Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (CNS -2). In addition Welfare Officers, Counsellors, Social Workers, Sexual Assault Workers and Occupational Therapists are required to have a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Community Welfare/Counselling/Social Work/Occupational Therapy in order to be classified as a Level 2.
  • Extensive clinical experience working with young people presenting with multiple and complex needs plus demonstrated experience engaging and working with young people (12 – 25 years) experiencing mental health problems and their families.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating (telephone, verbal and written) including active listening and motivational interviewing.
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently and providing advice and support within a multidisciplinary team of health professionals.
