The position requires working a rotating roster, including weekends and nights. In accepting the position, the candidate agrees to support core NSW Public Sector values of cultural diversity, equity and ethical practice and a healthy, safe and fair workplace, addressing these core values in training courses and the induction process.
Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Extensive demonstrated post graduate experience relevant to the care of the sick newborn, including an aggregate of at least 12 months at the Registrar level (or above) within a tertiary ANZ NICU. There should be no more than a two (2) year break between clinical appointments.
- Knowledge of clinical management and approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute conditions in the care of the Newborn.
- Demonstrated high level of organisational, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with patients and their families, multidisciplinary health care team and broader internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of and commitment to Quality Management.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and staff and non-clinical staff working in the Neonatal Intensive Care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising skills, judgement and expertise to provide a high standard of patient care.
