Your role
NSW Ambulance is seeking applications from high calibre, contemporary leaders to appoint to Zone Manager positions across New South Wales.
The aim of this advertisement is to create a talent pool of successful applicants for permanent and temporary vacancies (up to 18 months).
As a Zone Manager, you will be responsible for liaising with various levels of management under your command, ensuring physical, financial, and human resources support the delivery of high-quality operational Ambulance services to the community.
You will be responsible for overseeing ambulance operations across a Zone, including the production requirements for workforce planning, industrial relations, education, and welfare of staff within budgeting constraints.
This position is suitable for candidates who are motivated to take a lead role in establishing a positive workplace culture and monitoring and implementing strategies to achieve performance against agreed indicators for the zone.
About You
We are looking for candidates who have extensive experience in operational service delivery, in an emergency medical setting or a similar environment. You will have demonstrated your ability to take a command role in the event of a large-scale incident and have used various programs to manage escalations.
You will have demonstrated knowledge of operational compliance and government requirements and show the ability to report against assigned controls and accountabilities within a reporting framework. Conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills are all necessary in this role, with a particular emphasis on encouraging and developing strong leadership and stakeholder relationships.
Successful candidates will be required to attend an assessment centre at Sydney Operations Centre at Sydney Olympic Park or virtually on Microsoft Teams. - Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical and/or managerial field, preferably at post graduate level and/or equivalent relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in operational service delivery in an emergency medical system or similar environment as well as demonstrated ability to take a command role in the event of a large scale incident using emergency escalation and command and control protocols and procedures including the use of Incident Control Systems (ICS) and Incident Management Teams (IMT).
- Demonstrated knowledge of operational and clinical compliance and governance requirements and able to report against assigned controls and accountabilities within Ambulance’s reporting framework including clinical, risk, human resources, finances and operational performance.
- Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and ability to use tools and resources to analyse and problem solve with particular emphasis on systems improvement and organisational change.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing and motivational skills which demonstrate capacity to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience in supporting NSW Ambulance values to create a healthy work place environment. Demonstrated understanding of Industrial Relations frameworks and processes and the ability to manage complex industrial relations issues including representing NSW Ambulance at relevant forums.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, and report against key performance indicators, oversight the conduct of audits and supervise support functions such as stores, rosters, vehicle usage and monitor clinical compliance with Service protocols and Patient Health Care records together with computer literacy including knowledge of human resources information systems, word-processing and spread sheets.
- Demonstrated people management skills, including providing staff support, staff development, performance management and the early identification of unacceptable workplace behaviours and taking appropriate action such as investigation, resolution and monitoring of harassment and bullying, grievance issues and conflict resolution.
