Illawarra Shoalhaven Medical Imaging (ISMI) is seeking the services of Staff Specialist / Visiting
Medical Officer Radiologists keen to work in a technically advanced, fully digital and highly productive Imaging Service.
Applications for full time or part time employment are welcome, as are applications for employment entailing flexible work practices, and/or professional development.
ISMI Radiologists are able to work across a complete range of imaging modalities (including General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), Angiography and Interventional Procedures, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography and Ultrasound and Forensic Radiology).
ISMI operates from 6 hospital based sites in the Illawarra Shoalhaven District, at Wollongong,
Shellharbour, Bulli, Port Kembla, Shoalhaven (Nowra) and Milton-Ulladulla Hospital.
We offer both Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Wollongong Hospital as well as Nuclear
Medicine Services. Our imaging services are available across all sites within ISLHD, to Inpatients and ED patients, plus patients referred from community based GP's and Specialists.
ISMI employs over 130 staff including Specialist Radiologists, Nuclear Medicine Physicians,
Registrars in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, plus Radiographers, Nuclear Medicine Technologistsand exceptional Nursing staff. ISMI is supported by in house Administration and Technicalspecialists. We complete over 200,000 exams and procedures annually.
ISMI has a tradition of innovation and significant technical development and is now well established
in a completely digital environment. Our equipment fleet is well maintained and kept current via our
innovative programed replacement service. Wireless mobile imaging (x-ray and ultrasound) is used extensively throughout our hospitals.

Successful applicants to the role must provide certified documentation of vaccination history and related pathology results as part of their recruitment documentation. The applicant must be certified as compliant with  before employment can commence.


Selection Criteria:

  1. Eligible for full registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Radiology.
  3. Knowledge and evidence of applying quality and service improvement in the clinical environment.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and continuing education.
  5. Knowledge and evidence of applying quality, service improvement and the principles of evidence based practice in the clinical environment.
  6. Comprehensive experience in a broad range of Radiology procedures within an integrated PACS/RIS environment.
  7. Experience and willingness to work across a range of Radiology modalities (experience in interventional radiology is preferred).
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a team member in a variety of settings.
