Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist IC of Section - Toxicology and Mass Spectrometry

1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.
2. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
3. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
4. Demonstrated managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration and budgeting
5. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
6. Extensive high level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory. As well as proven ability to develop and implement new mass spectometry assays
7. Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements
8. Extensive experience and knowledgeable in Mass Spectrometry techniques and analysis, such as GCMS, LC-MS/MS, full ion scanning, Selective Ion Monitoring, and MRM Targeted techniques. Proven ability to troubleshoot assay and instrument issues. Well-versed in Toxicology and Pharmacology principles, including the metabolic pathways of common drugs and drug groups
