- To be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977.
- A minimum of Certificate III in Drug & Alcohol or equivalent and experience as a health worker / health promotion / community development worker in the government or non-government sector, or willingness to work towards same.
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and harm reduction and experience working with vulnerable clients and families with complex health and psycho-social needs in a community setting.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with a flexible, eclectic and non-judgmental approach.
- High level organisational skills, including a capacity to prioritise competing interests and meet tight deadlines and demonstrated high level written and oral communications skills.
