About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
 
This position aims to support evidence-based care for the treatment and management of mental illness and psychological conditions for people presenting to the Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS). It outlines the implementation of appropriate care that is consistent with current guidelines and has been shown to be effective in the treatment and management of mental illness and psychological conditions within the Australian context.
 
This position provides evidence based psychological assessment, diagnosis, case formulation and treatment of psychopathology as it is manifested in cognitive, emotional, motivational, personality and behavioural disturbances. Patients/clients/consumers will be seen individually and may be seen in groups for treatment. The Psychologist/Senior Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist will be expected to work as a member of the clinical team at the AMS. Clinical work will occur within the context of a multidisciplinary health care team that delivers care collaboratively.

Ideal Candidate
  • Must hold either an undergraduate or post graduate degree in psychology/clinical psychology (Masters, and/or Doctorate or PhD), registration with AHPRA and endorsement or working towards endorsement in clinical psychology. Eligibility for full membership of the APS and ACPA.
  • Clinical knowledge, skills and clinical experience in the provision of psychology interventions with consumers of the AMS.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and students or willing to develop those skills.
