Provisional Fellow

Selection Criteria:

1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
2. Demonstrated experience in a public hospital in the field of Paediatric Ophthalmology
3. Demonstrated competency in examination of children’s eyes, including refraction, and use of the slit-lamp microscope and binocular indirect ophthalmoscope, and demonstrated ability to perform basic strabismus surgery, including recession and resection of the horizontal rectus muscles
4. Demonstrated commitment and plans to pursue a career focussed on Paediatric Ophthalmology
5. Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
6. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff
7. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research
8. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent time management, problem solving skills, clinical skills, judgement and expertise
