About this role

 

The role provide legal services across a diverse range of legal issues and engage with stakeholders within the Ministry of Health and across the NSW Health public health system.

 

The Legal Unit is a small, specialist legal team who work as corporate counsel to the Ministry, as well as advising health service providers and hospitals across the broader NSW public health system. The unit’s structure comprises of 3 teams reporting through to the General Counsel for NSW Health.

 

  • $161,04-$164,246 plus super and annual leave loading with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing

 

You will be working in a purposeful, fast-paced environment dealing with a diverse range of legal issues. The legal services provided by the Unit includes general legal advice, drafting and advising on contracts and commercial issues, management of significant litigation, legislation within the Health portfolio, and advising on specialist health law and emerging medico-legal issues.

 

About you 

We are seeking a motivated and committed individual with: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

  • The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment

 

  • Demonstrated capacity to proactively manage emerging issues, provide strategic legal advice on solutions and support to junior legal officers in the team

 

  • Capability to manage a diverse range of work and expertly manage time and priorities

 

  • Significant experience in one or more of the following areas: contracts and commercial law, medico-legal or general litigation, health law
