What you'll be doing
The Level 1/2 social work position is responsible for the provision of comprehensive social work services to patients/carers of the Crown Princess Mary Outpatient Services.

The Level 1/2 social work clinician is able to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters. They may require direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex, or critical tasks.

The Level 1/2 social worker clinician will assist in the development of policies, procedures, standards and practices. They will be expected to participate in quality improvement activities, departmental committees and may be required to participate in clinical research activities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial issues associated with acute and chronic illness.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to provide counselling, case management for patients/families with illness adjustment, complex social issues and end of life care.
  3. Demonstrated clinical experience or understanding of the psychosocial impact of illness adjustment, grief, loss and bereavement.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse client group.
  5. Demonstrated well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills and high level computer literacy.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
  7. Knowledge of quality assurance and / or clinical practice improvement activities.
  8. Participation in the After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service.
