Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An incredible opportunity is now available within the Nursing Executive team. Located at the Health Hub, Nepean Hospital is the role of Nurse Manager Grade 3 - Comprehensive Care. This position on offer is Permanent Full time.

The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing a high level of Clinical Leadership, Governance, and Resource Management across the Nursing & Midwifery workforce of Nepean Hospital to ensure the highest-level quality patient care is delivered. The position works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing & Midwifery & the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery to achieve the operational and professional goals of the Nursing & Midwifery workforce at Nepean Hospital. The position will also work closely with other senior Nurses and Midwives to provide consistency of services across the facility.  

The incumbent will manage key projects relating to the patient journey and clinical practice improvements. They will provide leadership, advice and support on Contemporary Nursing and Midwifery Initiatives/ Projects/Programs, such as alternate models of Nursing and Midwifery care in conjunction with Senior Nurse/Midwifery Managers and Clinicians within the NBMLHD. They will also be expected to meet key deliverables associated with the NBMLHD Nursing and Midwifery Operational Plan and provide a focus of support for Nursing and Midwifery priorities including falls, hand hygiene and pressure injury management.

What you will bring to the role: 

  1. Must be a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife holding current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant post graduate qualifications in clinical leadership or management; or willingness to undertake same or equivalent work experience as deemed appropriate by the district.
  2. Recent broad clinical and operational management experience at a NUM/MUM level within a complex health care environment including strategic planning and the development and implementation of Business / Operational Plans.
  3. Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and, experience in supporting nursing teams with portfolios including Falls Management, Pressure Injuries and other Nursing key performance indicators.
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing a complex service with competing demands for access, throughput, and resources.
  5. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate inspire and organise staff to achieve organisational and professional outcomes.
  6. Well-developed analytical skills to analyse and interpret data and apply insights practicably to contemporary service delivery models.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Current full Driver’s license and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
