About the Opportunity
Are you a recent graduate in Radiation Therapy ready to make an impact in a dynamic healthcare environment? We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated new graduates for multiple temporary Level 2 Radiation Therapist positions. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals, and contribute to providing high-quality patient care. You'll work with state-of-the-art equipment in a supportive environment that prioritizes patient outcomes and staff development.

The program will run for 12 months from January 2025 and enable the successful candidates to build on their university knowledge by ensuring exposure to a wide range of radiotherapy techniques. 

Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre has a 2 CTs, a dedicated MRI, an orthovoltage unit, a brachytherapy unit, 3 Elekta Linacs and one Tomotherapy unit and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre has a CT, 3 Elekta linacs and orthovoltage. With these facilities, 4DCT, CT and MRI simulation, DIBH,SRS, SBRT, CBCT, TBI, brachytherapy, IMRT, VMAT and conformal treatment techniques are part of everyday practice.

Successful applicants will have completed a course in Medical Radiation Science Radiation therapy and be eligible for APHRA general registration as a Radiation Therapist as well as a NSW EPA license. The successful candidates will be rostered across both Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres’ and should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of radiation therapy principles and practice.

 

What You'll be Doing
To competently perform roles, within a multi-disciplinary team, as an accredited radiation therapist practitioner in simulation, planning, treatment, quality assurance and quality improvement, research and teaching in Radiation Therapy procedures to ensure high-quality patient-centred care is delivered and maintained

 

Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries

  1. Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, written and spoken, ability to relate with patients, carers and families, and the various staff groups within the multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and application of radiation therapy quality assurance, radiation safety principles and practices, and participation in incident reporting, site group meetings and adherence to NSW Health policies and guidelines.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in small teams, self-motivated with initiative and able to cope with dynamic and changing work practices including flexibility in work hours and location.
  4. Demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatment, with multimodality image verification, conventional and advanced planning and treatment delivery that may include, but not restricted to, 4DCT and 4DCBCT, IMRT and VMAT, SRS and SABR techniques, DIBH and Seed Tracking.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of current trends and developments in radiation therapy techniques and technology, with a clear commitment to research, innovation and evidence based practice.
  6. Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).
  7. Full Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Radiation Therapist and hold a Valid NSW EPA Radiation Licence or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
