Successful applicants will be to provide clinical and strategic leadership to support holistic, child protection medical and forensic responses within the district. This role is also responsible for developing systems, policies and practices, in partnership with the broader workforce, to ensure optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for children experiencing sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect and/or domestic violence. This role will provide some direct clinical care to children and young people experiencing sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and/or domestic violence.
The number of sessions will be 1-2 per week and will be provided primarily from the Medical and Forensic Unit at Nepean Hospital with some outreach required to other NBMLHD facilities. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Paediatrics and Child Health Division or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
3. Sound clinical knowledge in the delivery of care to children and young people experiencing sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and/or domestic violence demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
7. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Paediatrics demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
8. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
