About the role:

Based at John Hunter Hospital, our Midwife Educator (ME) is responsible for the development implementation and evaluation of comprehensive Educational Curriculum and programs for Maternity & Gynaecology Services. On any given day, you will be leading the coordination, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of our New Graduate Midwifery Program; providing education and learning opportunities to all staff, assisting Clinical Nurse Educators & Clinical Midwife Educators (CNE’s & CME’s) to plan and implement education programs, and ensuring the standards of clinical midwifery and nursing practice and of patient care are aligned to the philosophies, policies and operational goals. You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery, Maternity & Gynaecology, the Nurse Unit Managers/ Midwifery Unit Managers (NUM’s & MUM’s) as well as your Clinical Midwifery Educators (CME) Clinical Midwife Consultants (CMC’s) and Clinical Midwife Specialists (CMS’), and the broad multidisciplinary team that is committed to delivering holistic, woman-centred care to our patients. A thorough orientation process will be provided as well as mentorship from your leadership team. Professional development opportunities are always encouraged and supported.

Requirements: 

Current registration both as a Registered Midwife and as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
Completion of Post Graduate qualifications in Nursing Education/Education qualification or working towards same.
