  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, and ability to relate well and communicate respectfully to line management, colleagues and members of the public.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, supporting others and taking directions from supervisors or other staff as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated previous portering and cleaning experience in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of this position, such as push, or pull mobile waste bins, patient beds and trolleys frequently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of infection control standards, willing to clean room/areas that have been occupied by patients with possible or confirmed infections.
  • Ability to prioritise and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
