Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services and General Medicine
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located in the Department of Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services and General Medicine at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated and skilled rehabilitation physician, preferably with experience with spasticity. The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team, and requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex discharge planning.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services and General Medicine Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital is a dynamic multidisciplinary department which provides care across the acute and subacute spectrum. It provides inpatient, outpatient and home visiting services to the Geriatrics population of Blacktown LGA. This care is provided via a number of programs including Acute Geriatrics, General medicine and stroke inpatient care, Orthogeriatrics Care, Inpatient rehabilitation, GEM and maintenance units, as well as Residential Aged Care facility outreach and Domiciliary care units.
Essential Requirements for Appointment
1. Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Rehabilitation Medicine or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award/ Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
2. Sound clinical knowledge in rehabilitation medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
3. Training and/or experience in complex discharge planning including assessment and reporting to NDIS and NDIS applications.
4. Training and/or experience in a range of subacute rehabilitation medicine care and outpatients clinics such as spasticity clinic.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
