Cyber Security Engineer

Remuneration: $127,150.00 - $144,444.00 per annum, plus superannuation and 17.5% leave loading

What you’ll be doing  

The Information Management and Technology team is responsible for providing secure Information Technology services. The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of Cybersecurity design, support, engineering and advisory services resulting in Safe and Secure implementation of ICT projects across the Cancer Institute NSW.

Essential requirements  

  • Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement in cybersecurity and qualifications in ICT and security, or equivalent, with internationally recognisable qualifications and/or certifications that have been applied in practice in the workplace. This should include experience of public and private cloud and knowledge of cloud security.
  • Demonstrated experience using Security tools to detect, investigate and remediate.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in cybersecurity controls and risk assessment across the IT project life cycle and evidence of this application in practice.
  • Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret highly complex information from numerous sources, exercise independent judgement in a dynamic interagency policy environment, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused and innovative solutions. 

If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel. 

Pre-screening questions 

  1. Can you describe a specific project where you were responsible for the coordination and delivery of cybersecurity design and support? Please outline the challenges you faced, the actions you took to ensure a safe and secure implementation, and the outcomes achieved. 
     
  2. Please explain an experience where you had to manage a critical cybersecurity incident. How did you prioritise tasks, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure minimal disruption to services? Additionally, describe the tools and methods you used to detect, investigate, and remediate the incident
