Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.
An excellent opportunity is available to join the dynamic team of Clinical Nurse Unit Manager in the Nepean Emergency Department. The Nepean Hospital Emergency department is a tertiary referral centre with approximately 73,000 presentations per year and is affiliated with the University of Sydney. The Emergency Department is a regional trauma referral centre. The department provides acute emergency medical and nursing care 24 hour per day, seven days per week; primarily to the residents of the Penrith, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury local government areas.
The Nursing Unit Manager Level 1 coordinates and facilitates the day-to-day clinical management of the Emergency department. This role oversees the management of patient flow and workload within the department. The incumbent will work closely with nursing, medical, and allied health staff members in providing clinical and professional leadership whilst acting as a role model and resource person within the ED environment.

What you will bring to the role:
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Proven clinical management experience in an Emergency Department including experience in skill mix, patient acuity management and patient flow.
- Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated extensive clinical experience in Emergency Nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced communication & negotiation skills
- Demonstrated proficient problem solving skills
- Demonstrated previous experience in meeting Ministry of Health set KPI’s
