  1. Aboriginality – this position has been advertised under the SWSLHD Aboriginal Targeted Recruitment Program. This means Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, where found suitable, will be given higher priority. Do you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander? If so, please tell us about your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage, including a brief description of your family and community connections.
  2. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as well as a post graduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing. Successfully completed or working towards a tertiary qualification with units indicating a focus on the provision of education and/or clinical training or a current technical qualification in workplace training and assessment
  3. Experience working with Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander people and an understanding of the various issues that impact individuals and communities and how they relate to the ongoing impacts of colonisation.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal Health Service models and the roles of the multidisciplinary teams have to effectively deliver these as best practice services, as well as Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based multidisciplinary care for Aboriginal communities.
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide a culturally competent, safe and compassionate quality care within an Aboriginal cultural context.
  6. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with Aboriginal people and other stakeholders including patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary district wide health care team inclusive of Aboriginal Health Workers and Allied Health staff.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  8. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
