We are seeking a temporary full time clinical coder (with the possibility of extension) who is experienced, self-motivated, has good attention to detail and can accurately analyse and abstract information for coding, to join our team at Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD)!

Where you'll be working
In this role, you will provide clinical coding service to the NSLHD. Site is negotiable and remote coding is available for eligible applicants.

What you'll be doing
The primary responsibility of a clinical coder is the accurate translation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries and procedures into alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-AM and the correct assignment of the DRG within the NSW Health and NSLHD timeframes.


People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Completion of HIMAA/OTEN coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management.
  2. Demonstrated coding experience in a tertiary hospital using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and 3M Codefinder across a range of specialties with a proven knowledge and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and DRGs.
  3. Demonstrated ability to monitor and consistently meet coding throughput and quality KPIs.
