Paediatric Advanced Trainee

NSW Paediatric Physician Training - Eastern and Western Networks

Paediatric Advanced Training positions are accredited for advanced training in General Paediatrics or subspecialty training as outlined by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. hese positions are attached to either the Eastern or Western Paediatric Physician Training Networks, each of which is made up of a number of health care facilities, managed by Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and The Children's Hospital at Westmead, respectively. As these are network positions, they involve training in a variety of locations and clinical departments. Duties will be performed at more than one place of work. To comply with Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) training program requirements, trainees may be required to work in accredited facilities (including private hospitals); facilities may be outside of NSW. The composition of each training network is provided in the attached document. There may be additional accredited facilities not listed.

Positions are up to fulltime, to commence within the current 2025 Clinical Year for a period of up to two years. A limited number of job share opportunities may be considered within a network. Information about each network is available in the position description and additional Paediatric Training Network document attached to this advertisement. This position is not suitable for those with RACP Peer Review requirements.

Selection Criteria:
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent. Those registered with the RACP, must have remaining training requirements. Please outline training requirements that will be outstanding as of February 2024 and upload a copy of AT portal to this application.
  3. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development. This includes demonstrated ability to teach and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff. Please provide an example.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and a commitment to actively contribute to clinical team. Please provide an example.
  5. Proven verbal and written communication skills and ability to organise, plan and manage competing tasks. Please provide an example.
  6. Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment. Please provide an example.
  7. Demonstrated contribution to quality improvement, hospital services / committees and research. Please provide an example.
  8. Advanced Paediatric Life Support qualifications or equivalent. Please provide details and upload certification.
