Aboriginal Health Worker – Eye Health Coordinator
Dubbo Health Service

About the role
An exciting opportunity to work closely with the Ophthalmology Team to deliver equitable access to care for all Eye Health patients within the WNSWLHD.  This is a temporary role with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker with a minimum Certificate III Aboriginal Primary Health Care or with evidence of enrolment, you will work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing co-ordination and support to Aboriginal and or Torres Strait patients referred to the Dubbo Public Eye Clinic.   In addition, your role will involve planning, developing and implementing education & disease prevention programs, maintaining data and records and providing mentoring support and cultural guidance to other staff members.

The Dubbo Public Eye Clinic is a friendly and busy service where a dedicated team of ophthalmologists, orthoptists and nurses provide clinics within the Ambulatory Care Centre at Dubbo Hospital, as well as services across the region. You will be supported by administration and nursing staff, the Team Leader and Staff Specialists.

Your part in helping our service deliver holistic, culturally appropriate, supportive and effective care is highly valued and you will be rewarded in a role where you will be developed professionally and make a clear difference to the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait people in our community.
