About the role

The Orange Health Service Social Work Department operates across both the Orange General Hospital and Bloomfield Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Campus. Aboriginal Health Workers at Orange General Hospital are essential members of the Social Work Department, ensuring Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients, carers & relatives have access to culturally sensitive and safe services at the Orange General Hospital.
If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and have:
· Strong interpersonal & communication skills
· Previous experience in the provision of health or community services
· A commitment to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
· Eagerness to work collaboratively in a team.
· A passion to serve patients, carers and relatives in hospital.

As an employee of Western NSW LHD and the Orange Health Service Social Work Department you will be provided the opportunity to develop professional knowledge and skills and obtain experience in quality improvement activities and workplace education to contribute to improved care for patients / clients and their families.
This role supports applicants to complete the Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).
