Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking a motivated and capable administration professional to join our Theatres team. Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of Theatres and the Patient Services Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day function of the theatre service and ensuring patients and health professionals receive a responsive, coordinated and professional service.

 

About the Role

This is a varied role that will see you working across a range of administrative and patient service functions.

You will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the theatre service, including coordinating information, responding to enquiries and ensuring administrative processes are completed efficiently and accurately.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the daily function and smooth operation of the theatre service.
  • Developing strong working relationships with health professionals and key stakeholders.
  • Communicating and liaising effectively to support a seamless continuum of patient care.
  • Monitoring referrals, waitlists and service activity to support timely patient access.
  • Coordinating outpatient clinics, assessments and other service activities.
  • Managing correspondence and ensuring actions are prioritised according to urgency and patient needs.
  • Providing a professional and responsive telephone service to patients and health professionals.
  • Escalating urgent enquiries to the appropriate clinician when required.
  • Supporting data entry, reporting and administrative processes.
  • Contributing to effective service coordination and continuous improvement.
  • Working autonomously while also collaborating closely with the NUM of Theatres and Patient Services Manager.

Essential Criteria

  • Medical Terminology qualifications and/or demonstrated experience are essential for this position.

 

Support and Development

You will be supported by the NUM of Theatres and Patient Services Manager, who will provide guidance and assistance throughout your transition into the role.

A comprehensive handover will be provided to ensure you are familiar with the responsibilities, processes and expectations of the position.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced healthcare professionals in a supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

To provide a high quality administrative and secretarial support service for patients experiencing chronic non-cancer pain, their families/carers, and the multidisciplinary team of Tamworth Integrated Pain Service ‘TIPS.’ To provide Executive Assistance to the Operations Manager and Pain Medicine Specialists.
