Where you will be working:
Accredited RANZCP Unaccredited Trainee rotational positions are available across CCLHD for trainees at any stage of training. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are also eligible to apply. CCLHD is part of Network B which is a comprehensive Training Network which offers all mandatory training required by the RANZCP. The Network provides a variety of experiences in adult psychiatry in both hospital and community settings, Consultation Liaison psychiatry, Child and Adolescent psychiatry, Old Age psychiatry, Addiction, Rehabilitation, Psychotherapy, Mood Disorders, Aboriginal services. A Site Co-ordinator of Training on the Central Coast oversees a well-developed teaching program which includes supporting IMGs. An experienced psychiatrist co-ordinates psychotherapy education. There is an active examination preparation program, and Unaccredited Trainee of Network B achieve excellent results in the RANZCP exams. Accredited trainees attend the RANZCP prescribed formal education course in either Sydney or Newcastle depending on Trainee preference.
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.

*Where it is identified that a prevocational doctor has a two year prevocational contract and has accepted a 2025 PGY 2 position at another facility, the relevant JMO Units will be notified and they will contact the doctor to clarify which position they will be working in for 2025
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Australian & NZ Graduates/Competent Authority Pathway Candidates: Completion of 3 post graduate year or more as a medical officer in an acute hospital setting and practiced clinical medicine within the last 12 months. Psychiatry experience preferred but not essential.
- Standard Pathway Candidates: Completion of a minimum of 3 postgraduate years or more as a medical officer in an acute hospital setting and practiced clinical medicine in an acute hospital setting for a minimum of 12 months out of the past 2 years with 6 months experience in Psychiatry in an Australian Hospital or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills. Along with Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 words per minute.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
