What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of a Trainee in Anaesthesia at Blacktown-Mt Druitt Hospital is to provide anaesthesia services, under supervision, as part of the basic training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

- Extend their clinical assessment knowledge and skills to manage anaesthesia for common medical conditions of moderate complexity and optimise outcomes for patients through appropriate consultation and supervision.
- Deliver anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital and rotating hospitals.
- To perform other duties during rotations to other areas as directed.
- Participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics, including:
- Anaesthesia and Sedation
- Regional Anaesthesia
- Airway Management
- Pain Medicine
- Perioperative Medicine
- Resuscitation
- Trauma and Crisis Management
- Obstetric Anaesthesia
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered, or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia
- Minimum of three (3) full years of postgraduate experience and some experience in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. Current registration as a trainee with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (or eligible for) and intent to obtain Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Able to work in Anaesthesia under supervision and to work weekends and after-hours in the specialty area and work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilizing excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Demonstrated ability to adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of anaesthesia and a demonstrated interest in clinical audit or research.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
