What you'll be doing
The NSW Tissue Banks, governed by the NSW Organ and Tissue Donation Service (OTDS), is responsible for coordinating the referral, consent and retrieval of eye, musculoskeletal, skin and cardiovascular tissue from deceased donors and amnion and femoral heads from living donors in NSW in accordance with the NSW Human Tissue Act.
Key functions of the tissue donor coordinator role includes: rostered and on-call availability to conduct deceased donor identification, assessment and consent, support for families of potential and actual donors; participation in retrieval and manufacturing processes as required; allocation and distribution of tissue for transplantation; implementation and management of protocols for tissue donation in accordance with NSW legislation and regulations set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration; liaison with hospital based NSW OTDS staff; education of health professionals and the community; data collection, analysis and reporting; and, leading research projects related to tissue donation and transplantation

Selection Criteria
- A science based degree which includes human physiology and/or anatomy subjects;
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision;
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated experience in developing liaison and working relationships with colleagues at all levels, consumer groups, community members, as well as suppliers of services and products;
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting with experience of the application of quality improvement and risk management principles working in a cGMP environment
- Demonstrated competence with standard computer applications and ability to become proficient in new computer applications;
- An understanding of the regulatory and legislative frameworks/requirements for eye and tissue donation, processing and banking in NSW/Australia;
- Current unrestricted NSW drivers licence
