The Nurse Manager Patient Access and Demand will provide leadership, operational and strategic planning and direction in the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and coordination of patient flow, demand and activity across the facility 
The Nurse Manager Patient Access & Demand is responsible for the high level operational management of patient flow across SGH leading the demand management, capacity planning and facility recovery within the site Demand Escalation Framework. 

The role will lead the patient flow team to ensure efficient and effective care coordination and patient flow and to improve the patient experience. 
In collaboration with the Divisional key stakeholders, the role is responsible to lead key Whole of Hospital and other initiatives including monitoring, implementation and evaluation of strategies and contributes toward strategic facility and LHD plans pertaining to coordination of  care. 
The Nurse manager Patient Access & Demand has an integral leadership role in the development of facility initiatives which contribute towards meeting NSW MoH patient flow KPIs. 

The role is responsible for direct reports within the patient flow team, including Patient Flow Managers, CNC and Patient Transit Lounge staff. 
The Patient Access & Demand Manager will coordinate the site management of the Patient Flow portal, the Electronic Journey Boards and will submit data to the MoH bed reporting systems. 

The role will maintain effective communication and work closely with external stakeholders including NSW Ambulance service, community services and other healthcare facilities.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  2. Holds tertiary management qualifications or equivalent work experience relevant to the role and demonstrated evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies
  3. Demonstrated high level skills in leadership and management within a complex heath care setting utilised to achieve organisational and professional outcomes
  4. Demonstrated effective verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilise relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise plans and reports.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of patient flow associated KPIs including Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Elective Surgery Access performance (ESAP)
  6. The ability to initiate and adapt to organisational change to achieve safe and effective patient flow and achieve performance targets.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary management team
  8. Demonstrated ability to collate, interpret and analyse data to enable improved patient flow and service outcomes.
