About us:
MHSUS provides comprehensive assessments, centre-based programs, consultation and care coordination for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. We provide services within an evidence-based model of care grounded in integrated treatment, stages of change, and motivational interviewing. Our service supports consumers with community-based care though group facilitation, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, reviews and liaising with support services.

About the role:
The purpose of the Senior Social Worker position is to provide advanced clinical skills, consultation, education, and support quality improvement initiatives for consumers with co-morbid mental health and substance use and their family and carers.

The position responsibilities include in-reach assessments to the Mental Health Centre inpatient units, program delivery, clinical leadership, and consultation. There are also opportunities to contribute to district wide initiatives, education, and quality improvement initiatives.

For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills in a specialty area, with the support of the Service Manager, Staff Specialist, and other senior clinicians. You will be provided with an orientation to our model of care and supported to participate in relevant professional development activities, including individual and group supervision.

About you:
We are looking for a suitably qualified clinician to join MHSUS as our senior social worker. Clinical duties include assessment, care coordination, and group program facilitation. The senior social worker takes the lead within the team on social work priority areas including family-inclusive practice and lived experience participation. There are also opportunities to contribute to consultation, education, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:
  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
