What you'll be doing

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Social Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to work 24 hours a week, mostly including weekends on a rotational basis, to help meet the diverse needs of patients through the Integrated Domestic & Family Violence Crisis Response Project.

This role is a Category A role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.

For positions designated as child-related employment, or positions that may result in proximity to children, you will be required to obtain a Working with Children clearance number from the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

To obtain a WWCC clearance number, follow the instructions on the website of Service NSW, which includes completing an online application form and then attending a Service NSW Centre or a NSW Council Agency that provides Road and Maritime Services, to provide proof of identity and pay for the WWCC to be completed. Please note that a volunteer WWCC (which is free) cannot be used for paid employment.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
  2. Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker across a range of clinical areas in a health setting, including a demonstrated understanding of complex health conditions and the impact on patient well-being.
  3. Extensive specialist knowledge of psychosocial assessments, care planning, individual and family counselling, child protection, grief and loss and bereavement counselling and group work.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work in complex situations across a range of settings.
  5. Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage stressful situations: ability to work unsupervised and apply advance reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision.
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
