What you'll be doing
As the Social Work Head of Department, you will provide professional, operational and strategic leadership to Social Work and Aboriginal Liaison Officer services across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. You will oversee service delivery, workforce management, quality improvement and resource planning while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-focused care.
Lead the day-to-day operational, clinical and professional management of Social Work and Aboriginal Liaison Officer services.
Provide leadership, supervision and workforce development to Social Work and welfare staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Manage human, financial and physical resources to achieve budget, service and performance objectives.
Drive quality improvement, clinical redesign and the implementation of strategic workforce and service initiatives.
Build strong partnerships across Allied Health, hospital services and WSLHD to support integrated, high-quality patient care.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
Selection Criteria
Proven ability to lead, develop, coordinate and evaluate Social Work services across multiple sites. This will include a demonstrated ability in strategic clinical planning and the provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, initiative, time management and commitment to clinical team building.
Demonstrated ability to implement and improve patient safety, patient flow,continuum of care, and waiting times for treatment.
Demonstrated effective management of human and financial resources.
Understanding of Social Work clinical and workforce planning issues.
Experience and commitment to teaching, research and staff training
