You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within Health System Support Group (HSSG) and based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards, NSW 2065. HSSG is a unit of the Public Health System Support Division of the Health Administration Corporation to provide services to support the public health system in implementing Government targets and programs.

About this role 


The Enterprise Data Warehouse for Analysis, Reporting and Decision support (EDWARD) will be the source of truth for the business information required to underpin the Ministry of Health's System Manager role including purchasing, performance support, performance management, funding, planning, internal reporting, public reporting, and research.


The primary purpose of the Senior Technical Business Analyst (Senior Tech BA) is to align the business needs with technical solutions. The Senior Tech BA is responsible for understanding and documenting complex business requirements related to data analysis, reporting, integration and then translating them into actionable technical specifications. This role ensures that EDWARD aligns with the organisation’s strategic goals and empowers data-driven decision-making processes. Additionally, the Senior Tech BA provides mentorship and guidance to the business analysts in the team, ensuring quality and successful project delivery.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and extensive work experience as a Technical Business Analyst within a Data Warehouse environment.
  2. Extensive experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories and process maps.
  3. Strong technical expertise and recent hands-on experience using SQL or other data query, data modelling, reporting and profiling tools.
  4. Extensive experience in analysing complex datasets, performing root cause analysis and providing solutions to challenging business or technical issues.
  5. Proven experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  6. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex challenges, perform root cause analysis, and provide effective solutions.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate issues and solutions.
