What you'll be doing
The NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) is a statewide unit under auspice by Western Sydney Local Health District. ECAV is responsible for multi-sectorial learning, capacity building and workforce development, community development and supervision, in the specialist areas of prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect (PARVAN).
ECAV aims to ensure that the people of NSW can access culturally safe, high quality, trauma-informed services with practitioners who are ethical, competent and confident in the prevention of and healing from violence, abuse and neglect.
This position is responsible for supporting implementation of the NSW Health Adult Survivors’ Program through participation in statewide collaboration, workforce development and program development activities.
The Adult Survivors’ Program aims to improve outcomes for adult survivors of child sexual abuse and reducing repeat crisis presentations to Emergency Departments, mental health and alcohol and other drug services, through establishment of an integrated service model that provides education and capacity building, clinical and cultural consultation, specialist trauma-counselling, outreach, in-reach and/or coordinated case management in partnership with sexual assault, mental health, drug and alcohol, Aboriginal health and community support services.
This is an innovative new program that NSW Health is rolling out across all Local Health Districts as part of NSW Government’s commitments in response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (Rec 9.6).

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
Selection Criteria:
Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to work towards this).
Demonstrated project management skills including experience in project planning, goal setting and identification of required measures and outcomes, and monitoring the completion of project within agreed timeframes.
Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people impacted by violence, abuse and neglect (VAN), experience working within integrated models of practice and the VAN service system (with a focus on adult survivors of child sexual assault).
Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with senior executives, management, health staff, and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated understanding of the socio-political context, nature, dynamics (including coercive control and grooming) and impacts of violence, abuse and neglect (VAN) within the socio-political context of ongoing colonisation and intersections across Aboriginal communities, CALD communities, LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with disability and/or mental illness, and the ability to apply culturally responsive practices in all aspects of work.
Sound understanding of adult education theory and workforce professional development; proven ability to critically analyse emerging issues and practice trends, applying this to the development and delivery of high-quality training programs, with a focus on VAN and adult survivors of child sexual assault.
Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; effective organisational and time management skills and including proven experience meeting deadlines and competency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with demonstrated ability to learn new record management systems and/or platforms (eg. Office 365, HPE).
Current NSW Class C drivers license and willingness to use for work purposes.
