About the role
An exciting opportunity has opened for a fulltime Senior CT Radiographer to grow the Medical Imaging team as we move into a new, state of the art hospital in Cowra. The position will be pivotal in implementing this crucial new CT service from its first days of operation.

With the $110.2 million Cowra Hospital Redevelopment Project now in its final stages, the new hospital will deliver modern, purpose-built facilities to meet the health needs of Cowra and surrounding communities, both now and into the future.

The new hospital will include:

  • An Emergency Department.

  • A Medical Imaging Department with a CT scanner and Ultrasound.

  • A Peri-operative service for various surgical procedures.

  • A Maternity Unit with a dedicated nursery.

  • Ambulatory Care for outpatients.

  • A general medical and surgical inpatient ward.

  • A Renal Dialysis Unit for outpatient treatment.

  • An Oncology Unit for chemotherapy treatments.

  • Community Health and Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services

  • An Oral Health Clinic

The MID at Cowra Health Service is a small and friendly team with 2 Radiographers and an Administration Officer. We provide routine and emergency services to hospital inpatients as well as outpatients of Cowra and surrounding communities. We currently provide general x-ray, OPG imaging and fluoroscopy in theatre at Cowra and a twice-weekly x-ray service to the smaller communities of Canowindra, Grenfell and Blayney.

The CT Senior will manage the clinical and administrative operations of the new CT unit within the MID and ensure examinations are performed at a high standard consistent with current established practices district-wide. There will be an expectation that the successful applicant will participate in the weekly on-call roster, including weekends, covering general x-ray, CT and mobile x-ray.

Our MID is part of the Western NSW LHD-wide medical imaging business unit (MIBU), which allows for effective streamlining and sharing of resources. The MIBU deploys a central radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and transcription system across the district.
