About the Opportunity
The Elver Program is an innovative multi-disciplinary trauma treatment program funded by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and delivered in partnership with South West Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). The program provides a health service to the most complex children and young people living in Out-of-Home-Care in NSW, often in intensive residential placement arrangements. The program provides a mental health service informed by a child’s trauma, developmental and mental health experience.
Our team consists of psychiatry, occupational therapy, speech pathology, clinical nurse consultants, social work, and psychology. We provide specialist multidisciplinary trauma-informed mental health and developmental assessments and interventions and complex case consultations. Our services are provided in the clinic, via home visits as well as using telehealth, so some travel will be required. We target children and young people who live in intensive residential settings but also work with children living in foster and family-based settings. We give priority to children and young people that are unable to access mainstream mental health services, who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are under 12 years.
We are looking for a passionate Aboriginal Mental Health Professional to join and work collaboratively with our dynamic team. You will provide culturally responsive, recovery-orientated and evidence-based assessment and interventions to clients, their families and carers. Your role will work with the Elver team and support the Sherwood Program (a secure therapeutic residential care program) to highlight and promote culturally aware and sensitive practice. As a senior clinician, you will carry a clinical caseload, provide leadership and mentorship, undertake mental health capacity building as well as community liaison. We offer opportunities for professional learning, development and supervision.
Life at South Western Sydney Local Health District is rewarding, progressive and diverse and is always focused on achieving our Vision of Leading Care, Healthier Communities.
