Join the Team
As a Senior Network Engineer in our Statewide Network Services team at eHealth NSW, you will help make a real difference in healthcare by supporting, improving and transforming complex Routing & Switching environments across NSW Health.

This role focuses on Backbone, Data Centre and Campus network platforms, with a strong emphasis on Cisco, Juniper and other enterprise and service provider network technologies. You will work closely with Platform and Product Owners, Principal Engineers, Architects and other technical teams to deliver roadmap outcomes, support operational stability and ensure network services continue to meet customer needs and organisational goals.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead technical delivery of roadmap outcomes, service improvements, migrations, implementations and transformation initiatives across Routing & Switching environments.
  • Support complex technical design and troubleshooting across Backbone, Data Centre and Campus network platforms.
  • Collaborate with Platform Owners, Product Owners, Principal Engineers and Architects to assess technical risks, design trade-offs, dependencies and interoperability across systems.
  • Apply engineering standards that improve network security, resiliency, scalability, supportability and operational consistency across critical statewide services.
  • Provide technical guidance for incidents    , problem investigations, major changes and escalations impacting Routing & Switching services.
  • Prepare high-quality documentation including technical designs, implementation plans, operational procedures, risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Contribute to capability uplift through mentoring, knowledge sharing and support for Network Engineers and the broader network support environment.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

  • Brings strong experience operating, supporting and improving complex Routing & Switching environments across Backbone, Data Centre and Campus domains.
  • Has strong technical expertise with Cisco, Juniper or similar enterprise and service provider network platforms.
  • Covers advanced network technologies across BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EVPN, MPLS, VXLAN, VRF, QoS, multicast, routing policy, route redistribution, switching fabrics, VLAN, STP, RSTP, MST, LACP, vPC, MC-LAG, SDA, campus segmentation, high availability and network resiliency.
  • Leads technical investigations by analysing issues, identifying root causes, assessing risks and providing clear recommendations to technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Improves engineering practices across standards, documentation, monitoring, testing, operational assurance and service improvement activities.
  • Has automation experience using Infrastructure as Code, API driven automation and automated validation across NETCONF, RESTCONF, YANG, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Nornir or similar.
  • Communicates technical information clearly with customers, delivery teams, operational teams, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Supports technical capability by mentoring others and contributing to a constructive engineering culture across eHealth NSW teams and NSW Health Entities.
